We know you’re ready to get outdoors and enjoy fresh air and exercise. Here’s a great way to celebrate Earth Day and support Green Energy Ohio at the same time!
In 2021, GEO hosted our First Annual Earth Day Virtual 5K Run, Walk, or Bike. We designed the event as a Covid-friendly way of exploring the outdoors and celebrating Earth Day. We decided to continue the virtual format because it allows GEO friends and supporters throughout the state to join in the fun.
For 2022, we decided to continue the virtual format because it allows us to include GEO friends and supporters throughout the state. We’re also continuing our theme of “Healthy Me, Healthy Earth” – promoting our own healthy habits and the health of the natural world around us.
What we do in our everyday lives affects the health of the Earth, and the health of the Earth affects every aspect of our existence. There is no better time than Earth Day to honor that relationship.
Run, walk, or bike 3.1 miles to complete your 5K. You can do it all at once or spread it out over the weekend.
Anytime Earth Day weekend, starting on Friday, April 21 and going through Sunday, April 23.
Wherever – that’s the great part of this adventure! There are so many options throughout Ohio, starting with your neighborhood, a nearby park, a college campus, or a bike trail. Check out the Rails to Trails Conservancy map of Ohio or use the DETOUR app from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Going solo can be an awesome way to experience the world around us. Or explore with friends and family and celebrate the sense of community that Earth Day represents.
It’s just $15 to sign up.
Donations of $25 or more will receive a gift card for a Starbucks Cake Pop on us.
