Climate Change Programs

Clean energy is one of the most important pieces of the climate change puzzle.  Without changes in the way we produce and use energy, we will not be able to make the progress necessary to avert the impending crisis.  As such, Green Energy Ohio believes that it is important for all Ohioans to learn more about climate issues and to discover ways in which they can be a part of the solution.

What does Climate Change mean for Ohio’s future?

Extreme Heat

  • Today, Ohio experiences more than 5 days of temperatures that reach above 90 degrees each year.
  • By 2050, the state is projected to see more than 46 of these dangerous heat days each year.

Inland Flooding

  • Cinncinati, Columbus, and Cleveland are all within the top 50 U.S. cities with the strongest increases in downpours
  • The severity of Ohio’s high runoff events (weighted by its vulnerable population) currently ranks in the top half of the 32 states assessed for inland flooding threat
