GEO Events

  • Virtual Earth Day 5K - Earth Day is April 22. Here's a great way to celebrate Earth Day and support Green Energy Ohio at the same time!

Past Events

  • April Book Club - GEO's latest Climate Change Book Club was April 16th at 7pm, discussing What if We Get it Right? by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson
  • December Book Club: Choked: Life and Breath in the Age of Air Pollution - For our final Book Club of 2024, we are discussing air by reading Beth Gardiner's "Choked: Life and Breath in the Age of Air Pollution." Choked shows us that we hold the power to build a cleaner, healthier future: one in which breathing, life’s most basic function, no longer carries a hidden danger.
  • Solar Myths & Solar Truths: Watch the Video - Utility-scale solar development has become increasingly controversial and adversarial in Ohio. Similarly, the internet is filled with misinformation that gains traction the more frequently it is repeated.
  • 2024 Green Achievement Award Winners - Due to unforeseen circumstances, Green Energy Ohio has cancelled the 2024 Green Achievement Award banquet. In coming months, we plan to celebrate the achievements of our 2024 Award winners locally.
  • The Human Element Showing - GEO is pleased to partner with Kent State University to show The Human Element on Wednesday, April 17 at 6:00 pm in Design Innovation Hub Auditorium, Room 219, 400 Janik Drive in Kent. The film will be followed by a panel discussion led by Professor Joseph Ortiz. The public is welcome and no registration is necessary.
  • April Book Club: What happens when the glaciers melt - Continuing the four elements theme derived from James Balog's documentary "The Human Element," we will focus on water through an examination of Greenland's glaciers. The book is "The Ice at the End of the World" by Jon Gertner, and it was recommended to us by Torrey McMillan, one of the founders of the Book Club.
  • February Climate Change Book Club - In February we examined the element of fire through "The Heat Will Kill You First" by Jeff Goodell. You can find numerous book reviews online and read a review by Michael Benson, GEO Board of Directors member and retired Fire Chief, by clicking the linked image.
  • 2023 Ohio Energy Conference - Just like the weather, Ohio's energy landscape is always changing. That means Ohio clean energy supporters have more to learn, more to share, and more to do, and the Ohio Energy Conference is the best place to start.
  • Buses, Trucks, Trains and Tugboats: How Ohio spent $75 million from the VW Clean Air Act Settlement - Join us on Thursday, November 2 from 12:00-1:00 pm for this virtual conversation on air quality improvement in Ohio.
  • October Climate Change Book Club - The GEO Climate Change Book Club will meet virtually on Thursday, October 5 at 7:00 pm. The Ministry for the Future uses fictional eyewitness accounts to tell the story of how climate change will affect us all. Its setting is not a desolate, postapocalyptic world, but a future that is almost upon us.
